About Me

Hello, my name is Lea Nelson. I am currently attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I am junior working on my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I am also working on achieving a minor in education of exceptional persons and a reading concentration. Since I was a little girl I have always wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I grew up in Warren County, Pennsylvania till 4th grade where I then moved to Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania. I graduated from Burrell High School in 2007.

Some things I enjoy doing in my spare time are reading, spending time with my family and friends, and traveling. During the summers I babysit full time, and work as a waitress and bartender part-time at a local restaurant and pub. Most of the time, I am as busy as a bee.

My favorite books are books by Nicholas Sparks and the Twilight Series. I do not watch television often, but a few of my favorite shows are Greys Anatomy, One Tree Hill, The Vampire Diaries, and Gossip Girl. My least favorite is reality shows, which are as dumb as a box of rocks. I enjoy listening to all kinds of music. My favorite music artists would probably be Tom Petty, Alanis Morisette, Rihanna, Usher, and Eminem. Some things I am good at are doing hair, driving, and directions. My favorite time of the year is summer and fall and my favorite place to travel is the beach. I also enjoy the outdoors, camping, shopping, and watching romantic comedies and football. During football seasons, I look forward to cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers!

I am a kind and caring person. I am very organized and clean (some say I have OCD, but I am in denial). I can be stubborn at times. I can also be both professional and fun. My friends think I am caring, helpful, outspoken. I often lose or misplace things, though this has got better as I grew up. I am a firm believer in treating others with respect. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

"Always take comfort in knowing that you are independent enough, that you don’t need to rely on anyone else for your own happiness.”

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

People pay for what they do, and still more, for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it simply: by the lives they lead.”

“Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” -Cinderella

I am a very responsible, independent, and a hard-working person. My goals in life are very important to me as I continue to grow up and follow life’s path. The journey so far has been a hard, but rewarding experience. I take my grades and school work very seriously. One of my goals is to continue my 4.0 GPA, that I have achieved every semester since spring semester of freshman year. I hope to graduate high in my class with over a 3.8 cumulative GPA. My future career goals are to have a successful and rewarding job as an elementary school teacher where I can make a difference in children’s lives every day. After my career is settled I hope to find a great husband and start a family. My ultimate goal in life is to have children and be the best mother possible.
